Iwantafreecreditreport.com was created because many so sites sprung up after it was mandated that a free credit report was to be provided by the credit reporting agencies and they tried to mislead the public and trick them into paying for a report.
We started our site with the intent to tell the truth (gasp) and not mislead anyone. That is why the link to annualcreditreport.com is provided on the site. In addition, we placed as much information as we could get our hands on and found a cheaper way to get reports and scores all in one place.
The idea and motivation was to empower and educate. We are constantly changing, evolving and adding to the what that means but the bottom line, is that we wanted the site to be resource for anyone that wants to tackle the daunting task of repairing, reviewing or simply investigating where they stand with the credit industry. To that end, we continue.

Pat--you DO know about Equifax's practices, I assume? But then if you do, I don't think you would link to the site that includes Equifax along with the other 2 big CRA's who actually do send the required free reports and often do attempt to correct misinformation in consumers' files. I am not smart enough to be one of only few who see that the emperor has no clothes--please tell me Equifax's FCRA-defying antics are common knowledge!
Well, Anonymous, yes I do. I have fought all three at various times and even sued one of them.
While I agree that Equifax is one of the worst at stone walling, Experian is by far the most egregious in their disregard for consumer rights combined with arrogance.
To the point of your post. I have all three bureaus on there because everyone needs to know what all three are saying and to have all three credit scores in order to have a true understanding of their situation. And, in order to do that, you have to dance with the devil at times.
Free credit reports do not provide credit scores and the bureaus take the consumer to the cleaners to buy the reports individually.
Now, while I appreciate your comments, anyone that isn't willing to leave their name, in my opinion, isn't in any position to complain. Without leaving a name and staking out a position to discuss, your comment is, at this point, considered sniping by me and is rather chicken shit. If you have such strong opinions, then put up your own blog or contact me to discuss your point of view.
